Another of the most common questions that we get at Lloyd Hall is, can I wear my wedding suit again? And the answer put simply is, yes of course.
It always helps if we’re notified that a client intends to wear his or her wedding suit again at the outset of the design process. Because there is a way to make a wedding suit look very much like a wedding suit. But if we are notified that the groom intends to wear that wedding suit for other occasions, then we can help the groom to design the wedding suit in a more generalist way.
Again, we’re often asked “can I wear my wedding suit to work?” And the answer is always, well, this depends what you do for a living. Essentially you’ll know whether what you’re designing, works or not, for the setting that you work in. Having it front and center of mind, that you’re going to wear this suit again and again and again after the wedding for many years to come. Is a brilliant way to enter the world of bespoke tailoring because in essence, a suit is an investment. A well fitting suit, well-made, will far out last, a suit off the peg, poorly made. And so cost per wear becomes very economic.
One thing to keep in mind on the question, “can I wear my wedding suit again?” – Is that often we have large groups of chaps coming and buying suits that are virtually identical to one another. Now, this seems good for the initial wedding day but going forwards, many of those chaps will be related or close friends. And will often go to the same functions, be that weddings, christenings, or even the races. And so as the groom, you want to get an agreement in place with others in the party, that if anybody is going to wear this fantastic suit going forward, it will be you. Because you don’t all want to turn up looking like members of a boy band wearing exactly the same thing. Although that works at a wedding, it very rarely works anywhere else.
